Case Description
In March 2024, a 24-year-old local resident, Andrey Vasilenko, was detained in Voronezh. He was accused of treason, attempted sabotage by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out sabotage activities. According to the investigation, in March 2024, a resident of Voronezh made contact with representatives of Ukrainian special services, after which he began passing them information about railway infrastructure facilities in the city. Together with unidentified accomplices, Vasilenko purchased the means necessary for setting fire to a relay cabinet and a locomotive and went to the site of the sabotage, but he was detained by FSB officers. On July 31, 2025, the Voronezh Regional Court found Andrey Vasilenko guilty and sentenced him to 17 years of imprisonment, with the first 4 years to be served in prison, the remaining sentence in a strict regime penal colony, and a 1-year restriction of freedom." The court also confiscated Vasilenko's car for the benefit of the state. December 22, 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
