Case Description
On July 5, 2023, in the Belgorod region near the settlement of Chasovoy Yar, 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen, serviceman of the "Kraken" unit of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andrey Prikhodko, was taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. He was accused of committing a terrorist act, illegal circulation and smuggling of weapons and ammunition, as well as illegal crossing of the state border. According to the Russian investigation, at the end of May 2023, Prikhodko, as part of his unit, invaded the territory of the Belgorod region 'to commit terrorist acts.' On June 6, 2023, on the outskirts of a village in the border area, he fired a handheld grenade launcher at a Gazelle vehicle with Russian servicemen. The military managed to leave the vehicle, which was subsequently completely destroyed. At the time of the investigation, the case's defendant was held in custody at SIZO-2 in the Rostov region. On September 15, 2025, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Andrey Prikhodko guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison, the first 5 years of which he must serve in prison, and the remaining term in a strict regime penal colony, as well as a fine of 800 thousand. rubles. The court ruled that the court also ordered Prikhodko to pay about 25 thousand rubles as compensation for court costs.
