Case Description
A criminal case was opened against Ukrainian citizen, platoon commander of the operational purpose unit of the special purpose detachment of the "Azov" regiment, Andrey Koshelenko, on charges of participating in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Azov regiment, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. The date of the Ukrainian's capture, as well as the details of the charges, are unknown. On August 15, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Andrey Koshelenko guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in a strict regime penal colony. April 28, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
