Poplavskiy Anatoliy Eduardovich

In Moscow on October 6, 2022, at about ten o'clock in the evening, 54-year-old local resident Anatoly Poplavsky was detained. He was taken to the Ostankinsky District Police Department in Moscow, where a protocol on an administrative offense under the article on petty hooliganism was drawn up against the man." According to the police, Poplavsky "used obscene language against third parties" in the yard of a residential building. The next day, on October 7, 2022, Svetlana Yakovleva, a judge of the Ostankino District Court of Moscow, sentenced Poplavsky to 15 days of administrative arrest." At the trial, the man said that he did indeed swear, but this was due to a divorce - he had separated from his wife, and his children remained in Ukraine. While Anatoly was serving his sentence, the FSB opened a criminal case against Poplavsky for attempted participation in an armed conflict against the Russian Federation. According to security forces, the man filled out an application to join the 'Freedom of Russia' legion and planned to participate in armed conflict on Ukraine's side. On October 21, 2022, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow placed Poplavsky under arrest. On November 2, 2023, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Anatoly Poplavsky guilty and sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison. Poplavskyy must serve 2.5 years in prison, the rest of the sentence in a strict regime colony. In addition, the court sentenced him to 1 year of restriction of freedom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
