Case Description
In July 2018, in Novocherkassk, Rostov region, 64-year-old scientist Alexey Temiryov, head of the small innovative enterprise 'Mechatronics' and founder of the design bureau 'Intelligent Robust Integrated Systems,' professor of the Department of 'Power Supply and Electric Drive,' was detained." He was accused of treason. According to the investigation, Temiryov passed on to Vietnam 'delicate data on developments in the creation of weapons and military equipment for the navy'. The information concerned the equipment he was creating at the IRIS design bureau together with a Vietnamese graduate student. The defense claimed that the scientist himself contacted the FSB to verify documents for secrecy, and the information was publicly available. During the investigation, the case's defendant was placed under arrest. On January 10, 2020, the Rostov Regional Court found Alexei Temiryov guilty and sentenced him to 7 years and 6 months in a strict regime penal colony." The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
