Case Description
On November 16, 2025, in the Kursk region, while retreating from their position, a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a soldier of military unit A-3283 (17th separate tank brigade), a rifleman of the security company, soldier Aleksandr Tsviliy, was captured by Russian military forces. He was accused of committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in grave consequences. According to the Russian investigation, on October 9, 2024, Tsviliy, having with him AK-74 assault rifles and ammunition for it, as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine illegally invaded the territory of the Russian Federation. Being in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, for a month and a half, using the available weapons, he participated in the armed blockade of Olgovka village in the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region, hindered the evacuation of the civilian population, as well as the activities of state authorities and local self-government." On 3 June 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Alexander Tsvili guilty and sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment, with the first 4 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
