Case Description
In the occupied Melitopol of the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine in March 2023, a criminal case was opened on 'public calls for terrorist activity' against 27-year-old local resident Alexander Plysyuk. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a selfie against the background of the inscription "SMERT PUTINU!" in VK. The post appeared back in 2017, and Alexander's page on VK has not been updated since 2019. At the time the criminal case was initiated, Alexander was under arrest by the occupation police under an administrative article for violating the regime of martial law. On October 21, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Alexander Plysyuk guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 700 thousand. rubles.
