Case Description
In the Kursk region on August 13, 2024, during hostilities, Ukrainian citizens, servicemen of the 92nd separate assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yevgeny Dudko, Vitaly Krasik, Alexander Obraztsov and Igor Volkov were taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. Criminal charges were brought against them for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, in August 2024, Dudko, Volkov, Krasik, and Obraztsov, along with other servicemen of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 'for the purpose of committing terrorist acts,' illegally invaded the territory of the Russian Federation. Being in the village of Giri of the Belovsky district of the Kursk region, the military "hindered the evacuation of civilians from the settlement, under the threat of using weapons, occupied private houses, repeatedly opened fire on Russian military personnel and local residents." "6 May 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Yevgenia Dudko to 17 years in prison, Alexander Obraztsov, Igor Volkov and Vitaly Krasik to 16 years, with the first 4 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
