Case Description
In the city of Makeevka in the occupied part of the Donetsk region, no later than November 2023, a local resident, a citizen of Ukraine, Alexander Nechayev, was detained on charges of espionage. According to Russian law enforcement, he collected and passed information to the Ukrainian side. Details of the charges are unknown. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On January 18, 2024, the Rostov Regional Court found Alexander Nechaev guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in a strict regime colony. On April 16, 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
