Case Description
In the Kursk region on March 11, 2025, during combat operations, a 42-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a shooter in the fire support company of the 118th territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Mokrienko, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on the evening of January 16, 2025, Mokrienko, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle with ammunition and two hand grenades, together with other servicemen in a Volkswagen car, illegally crossed the Russian state border in the Sudzhansky district." Followed in the direction of the Khutor Agronom with the aim of blocking and holding it. Near the settlement of Mokrienko, together with his comrades, he "held observation and fire positions, intimidated the population by using weapons, opposed Russian troops, and participated in the disorganization of the activities of government bodies." "On October 9, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Alexander Mokrienko guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in prison, with the first 5 years to be served in a prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony.
