Case Description
Senior soldier of the 116th separate Ukrainian territorial defense brigade Alexander Kozhemyaka, who participated in the invasion of the Kursk region, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with the first 4 years to be served in prison and the remainder of the sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was handed down under the article on committing a terrorist act (Part 2, paragraphs "a" and "v" of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, on October 1, 2024, Kozhemyaka invaded the territory of the Russian Federation. While in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of the Kursk region, the soldier occupied private houses where he equipped observation and fire positions from which, according to the investigation, he used weapons against the civilian population. In addition, he was found guilty of blocking the khutor of Knyazhy in the Sudzhansky district and the village of Olgovka in the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region. On October 20, 2024, Kozhemyaka was taken prisoner.
