Case Description

In Barnaul, Altai Krai, no later than November 2023 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was opened for repeated 'discrediting' of the army against Alexander Goncharenko, the former head of the Altai branch of Yabloko. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a publication on VKontakte of the text of his speech at a rally in Hamburg in January 2023 in support of Russian political prisoners: "For this to happen, we must do everything to ensure that Ukraine defeats the aggressor, i.e. returning the borders of Russia and Ukraine to the 1991 state, which will lead to the collapse of Putin's regime. Let's all say together as loudly as possible: 'No to war, put the band of putin on trial, freedom for all political prisoners!' - Goncharenko said at the rally. On November 28, 2023, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Barnaul issued a decision on his in absentia arrest of the politician. In December, this decision was approved by the Altai Krai Court. Goncharenko himself left for Germany in February 2023. At the end of March 2024, he was placed on the international wanted list. Earlier, in April 2022, Alexander Goncharenko was fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on 'discrediting' the army due to a post on the Yabloko party's website, published on March 2, 2022. In the blog "I don't want and can't stay silent, the politician wrote that it was "painful for him to watch Russian people killing Ukrainians, and Ukrainians being forced to kill Russians." In the photo, he is holding a sign that says 'NO *****!' "In October 2025, the politician was included in the list of Rosfinmonitoring as being involved in a crime of an extremist nature. It is unknown under which article a new criminal case was opened against him.
