Case Description
In Moscow, the Investigative Directorate for the Eastern Administrative District opened a criminal case in April 2024 for publicly justifying terrorism against feminist Zalina Marshenkulova. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a post in the Telegram channel 'Women's Power' by Marshankulova, where she commented on the killing of war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. Experts from the Moscow Research Center saw signs of justifying terrorism in Marshenkulova's post. Marshenkulova herself left Russia and lives in Germany. She was put on the wanted list. 17 May 2024, the Perovsky District Court of Moscow issued an in absentia ruling to place Marshankulova in custody from the moment of her actual detention, and in the event of her extradition or deportation to the territory of the Russian Federation — from the moment of her transfer to the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation.
