Mathematics and computer science teacher, science fiction writer. Active participant in protests in Khabarovsk Krai. In 2020, he held rallies in Sovetskaya Gavan against the construction of a coal terminal and the arrest of the former governor of the region, Sergey Furgal. He has a young daughter and a pregnant wife on maternity leave who depend on him. In the pre-trial detention center, a lump began to grow on his neck under his lower jaw. Initial biopsies showed that the tumor was benign, surgery was scheduled, but then for some reason they refused it. One of the repeated biopsies showed oncology. The tumor, according to relatives, presses on Zakhar's jaw and he cannot even eat normally, because of which he loses a lot of weight. At the time of the trial, the political prisoner's cancer diagnosis was already known, but the FSIN tried to hide it. He even lost consciousness in the SIZO - they gave him an injection to bring him to his senses. He is not receiving any treatment. Zakhar believes that they are just waiting for him to die in the SIZO. Because when the first studies showed cancer, this information was hidden so that it would not be mentioned in court. In September 2024, Zaripov was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer.
