Case Description
The Ministry of Internal Affairs put out a wanted notice for 71-year-old Arkhangelsk oppositionist Yuriy Shcherbachev. According to the card, the activist is wanted in connection with a criminal case, the specific article is not indicated there. In May 2022, Shcherbachev was detained and a protocol was drawn up against him for 'discrediting' the army due to anti-war posts on VKontakte. In August of the same year, the oppositionist left Russia and requested political asylum in Norway. In October 2020, a criminal case was initiated against Shcherbachev for insulting the National Guard due to a post on VKontakte, in which he called the security forces "jailers, thugs, police dogs, and "bastards in uniform." 1.
