Case Description
On February 1, 2024, in the city of Glazov, Republic of Udmurtia, 21-year-old local resident Yuri Samsonov was detained." According to him, he was initially charged with treason and participation in a terrorist organization, but they could not prove anything, and therefore brought charges of public calls for terrorism. According to the investigation, Samsonov allegedly distributed a text in the Telegram messenger in support of "the ideology and practice of terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was comments supporting the Russian Volunteer Corps under posts in their official Telegram channel. Also, the man spoke out against sending Russian troops to Ukrainian territory and against the current authorities. On December 5, 2024, the Central Military District Court found Yuri Samsonov guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in a general regime colony. September 10, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
