Case Description
On February 24, 2024, in the city of Tavriysk in the occupied part of the Kherson region, local resident Yuri Prasolov was detained. A criminal case was opened against him for illegal possession of weapons and explosives and planning a terrorist attack. According to the Russian investigation, in August 2023, Prasolov found a duffel bag with a grenade and more than 370 rounds of various calibers on a landfill, which he moved to his apartment in the Kherson region. During this same period of time, the defendant allegedly decided to blow up the building of the Tavriysk administration. On February 4, 2024, Prasolov drew up a diagram of the streets and buildings located near the administration building to calculate the routes for approaching it, blowing it up, and retreating. In order to increase the destructive capacity of the explosive device and create a danger of death to people, he attached rifle cartridges to the grenade with electrical tape. The court placed the defendant in custody. On February 19, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Yuri Prasolov guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in a strict regime colony, with the first 2 years to be served in prison and a fine of 50 thousand rubles. rubles. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
