Case Description
On February 7, 2025, at around 6:50 PM in St. Petersburg, a 22-year-old local resident, a student at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Yuriy Petrash, poured a flammable liquid on the doors of the FSB office at Liteyny, 4, and then set it on fire. Then Petrash proceeded to the street. Zakharievskaya, where he doused the entrance door of the FSB administrative building with a flammable liquid and also set it on fire. As a result of the incidents, no one was hurt, and black marks remained on the doors of the building. The young man filmed the arson attempts on his phone. Petrash was detained by FSB officers. During the interrogation, the student reported that he had become a victim of fraudsters. First, they forced him to transfer money, and then, pretending to be special services employees, they promised to return the funds if he "checked the vigilance of his FSB colleagues. A criminal case was opened against Petrash for terrorism. February 10, 2025, the Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg placed a young man in custody. On May 23, 2025, the 1st Western Military District Court found Yuri Petrash guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in a strict regime colony, the first 2 years he will spend in prison, the remaining 8 years - in a strict regime colony. September 3, 2025, the Military Court of Appeal upheld the sentence.
