Case Description
In Tomsk in November 2024, a 50-year-old entrepreneur, Russian citizen Yun Zhu, was detained. A criminal case was initiated against him for organizing the activities of an undesirable foreign organization. During a search, security forces allegedly found banned literature with swastikas and informational materials at Yuny's home, which are used to attract new followers. According to the investigation, Yun, being a member of the banned religious movement "Falun Gong, allegedly organized the work of a cell of the religious movement in the Tomsk region and oversaw it: he collected money from followers, ordered the printing of brochures and books, and tried to increase the number of participants. The court placed Yun under arrest. 27 June 2025, the Soviet District Court of Tomsk found Yun Zhu guilty and sentenced him to three years in a general regime penal colony. The court also prohibited the resident of Tomsk from engaging in socio-political activities for the same period.
