Case Description
In St. Petersburg on March 13, 2024, local resident Yulian Zagitov was detained. A criminal case was initiated against him for hooliganism motivated by political hatred. The reason for the criminal prosecution was leaflets with the text "PUTIN-KILLER PUTIN-KILLER PUTIN-KILLER", pasted on a traffic light support and on a street lighting pole at a public transport stop located at the intersection of Tambasov Street and Veterans Avenue, as well as leaflets with the text "Putin killed Alexei Navalny!", allegedly found at Zagitov. The court first sent the Petersburg resident into custody, then transferred him to house arrest. On September 11, 2024, the Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg found Yulian Zagitov guilty and sentenced him to 1 year of probation. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
