Case Description
34-year-old local resident Yaroslav Bykov was detained in Moscow in early October 2025. He was taken to the Levoberezhny District Department of Internal Affairs of Russia, where a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against him under the article on the distribution of extremist organization symbols. According to the protocol, the man posted a post on Instagram with the text: 'My separate congratulations I express to [full name], the Ukrainian people and, of course, the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This year you have shown a true example of courage, the unity of your nation against evil. Throughout the democratic world, many people mentally buried you and your country, believing that you would not be able to hold out for more than three days. Fortunately, Putin's evil has broken its teeth under Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv. In the new year, I wish you all a speedy victory. Special congratulations are extended to those citizens who hear us Russians with an anti-war stance and maintain relations with us. <...> Believe me, those who committed these terrible crimes in your country, they will all be punished. Starting from Shoigu, Severovikin and ending with ordinary Russian soldiers. <...> Long live the car brand!!!", Freedom for Russia!!! No to war!!! "On October 3, 2025, Zhanna Averyanova, a judge of the Golovinsky District Court of Moscow, despite having serious illnesses, including epilepsy, sentenced Bykov to 14 days of administrative arrest." After serving his sentence, on October 16, 2025, the man was detained again and taken to the OMON of Russia for the Left Bank District of Moscow, where a second protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against him under the article on the distribution of extremist organization symbols. The reason for the protocol was a post on Facebook, in which the police saw the symbolism of the "Freedom of Russia" legion (white-blue-white flag). Bykov was charged with depicting a ring of barbed wire with a white-blue-white flag and the inscription "CITIZEN OF BEAUTIFUL RUSSIA OF THE FUTURE, PERFORMING THE FUNCTIONS OF A FOREIGN AGENT IN PUTIN'S RF." 3. The recording also featured a circle, divided in half by the colors of the Ukrainian flag, with the inscription "I AM A RUSSIAN AGAINST WAR" and the slogans "Freedom for Russia!!! Alga Kazakhstan!!! On October 17, 2025, Judge Zhanna Averianova of the Golovinsky District Court of Moscow sent Bykov into administrative arrest for another 15 days. On October 31, as Bykova was leaving the temporary detention facility, she was detained again. He was taken to the Department for the Maintenance of the State Budgetary Institution 'Migration Center' in Troitsk, where a third protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against him, this time under the article on petty hooliganism. According to the police, Bykov, while in the migration center, used obscene language, waved his arms, expressed obvious disrespect for society, and did not respond to remarks from citizens. On November 1, 2025, Judge Roman Zaitsev of the Troitsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Bykov to another 15 days of administrative arrest. A month later, a criminal case was opened against Bykov: he was accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian military motivated by political hatred. The details of the charges are unknown. On December 18, the Golovinsky District Court of Moscow granted the prosecution's motion and sent the case defendant into custody.
