Case Description
FSB officers detained Vyacheslav Popov and accused him of planning "to commit a terrorist act against military personnel of one of the military units of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the eve of Victory Day celebrations." The verdict stated that Vyacheslav "was dissatisfied with the SVO in Ukraine, and therefore planned to carry out a terrorist attack on the territory of one of the military units in Kaliningrad. During the investigation, the activist admitted his guilt and reported that he wanted to carry out a terrorist attack using a homemade explosive device, the components of which - TNT blocks, a detonator, and screws - he found in a package in a forest belt. At the trial, one of the prosecution witnesses reported that Popov allegedly planned to go to Ukraine to fight against Russia. Vyacheslav's mother, Valentina, said that her son did not have a foreign passport, he was not going to leave anywhere and was not a member of the 'Right Sector'. According to her, during the search, FSB officers pushed her out of the apartment, and after that, she found unfamiliar bags in her apartment containing parts of a homemade explosive device, and symbols associated with Ukraine and the "Right Sector" appeared in the room. The mother does not believe in the accusation against her son Vyacheslav and called the search a setup.
