Case Description
In October 2023, a local resident of Tomsk, Vyacheslav Polkanov, was detained on charges of repeated 'discrediting the army'. According to the investigation, Polkanov, throughout February 2023, posted on his social media account "discrediting information posts about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation." 1. It is not known what specific publications are being referred to. Polkanov was placed in custody at the request of the investigation. At the beginning of December, the measure of restraint was changed to house arrest. On April 23, 2024, the Kirovsky District Court of Tomsk found Vyacheslav Polkanov guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
