Case Description

On October 26, 2022, in the city of Korolyov in the Moscow region, security forces conducted a search at the home of local 29-year-old activist Vladislav Teut. They seized office equipment and other items, after which, around 17:00, they took him for questioning at the Investigative Committee. A criminal case was opened against the activist for "fakes" about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. According to the security forces' version, Teut posted on April 10, 2022, about the events in Bucha on Instagram. After the interrogation, Teut was not released from the Investigative Committee but was taken to a police station, where a protocol on an administrative offense under the article on petty hooliganism was falsified against the activist. According to the police, the activist swore in a public place and provoked passersby to fight. He was detained for 48 hours. On October 27, 2022, Judge Dmitry Ganus of the Korolyov City Court of the Moscow Region sent the man under administrative arrest for five days. After the end of the arrest period, the activist was able to remain free, after which he left Russia. He was put on the wanted list. Subsequently, the charge of "fakes" about the Russian army was reclassified as justification of terrorism. On October 27, 2023, the Korolyov City Court of the Moscow Region placed Vladislav Teut under house arrest in absentia. On September 19, 2023, the Moscow Regional Court upheld this decision.
