Case Description
Unknown persons kidnapped Vladislav Sugakov, a Ukrainian citizen and resident of the village of Savintsy in the Kharkiv region, in March 2022. Nothing was known about him for several months. On February 7, 2024, the Petrogradsky District Court of St. Petersburg placed Sugakov in custody on charges of espionage. According to the version of the Russian security forces, in April-May 2022, the Ukrainian, "acting in pursuance of a spy assignment received from a foreign intelligence service," collected information about the location of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of one of the regions of Ukraine and passed this information to a representative of the SBU. On March 12, 2025, the St. Petersburg City Court found Vladislav Sugakov guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in a strict regime penal colony. On June 24, 2025, the Second Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
