Case Description
In Yaroslavl, at the beginning of January 2024, two teenagers were detained - 15-year-old Vladislav Smirnov and 16-year-old Alexander Lobunichev. A criminal case was opened against them for preparing a terrorist act. According to the investigation, in the evening of January 1, the teenagers came to Karl Liebknecht Street to inspect the building of the military court and determine the escape routes. The next day, the guys went to "Leroy Merlin, where they bought flammable liquid, gas canisters, a gas burner, and other necessary items. They failed to carry out their plan, because. they were detained. Later, correspondence with unidentified persons located on the territory of Ukraine was allegedly found on Alexander's phone. The court sent teenagers to the pre-trial detention center. On May 7, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found the defendants guilty. The sentence is unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
