Case Description
In December 2022, a local resident, a native of Ukraine with dual citizenship of Russia and Ukraine, Vladislav Ponamaryov, was detained in the Rostov region. He was accused of espionage. According to the investigation, Ponamaryov allegedly passed information to the Ukrainian side about the deployment of Russian servicemen and details about the movement of military equipment. Ukrainian Armed Forces units struck with HIMARS MLRS missiles based on transmitted coordinates. It is claimed that Ukrainian special services made contact with the man through a game in mid-2021, and in 2022 offered to pass information to them. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On September 5, 2023, the Rostov Regional Court found Vladislav Ponamaryov guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony. 17 April 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
