Case Description
In Sevastopol, occupied Crimea, no later than June 2022 (the exact date is unknown), two local residents, V. But and 24-year-old Vladislav Bocharov, were detained on charges of vandalism motivated by political hatred and enmity and desecration of the state flag of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, the defendants acted being dissatisfied with "the political decision of the Russian leadership to conduct a special military operation by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to protect the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic on the territory of Ukraine." Details of the charges are not reported. The chosen measure of restraint is unknown. On January 23, 2023, the magistrate of the judicial district No. 18 of the Nakhimovsky judicial district of the city of Sevastopol found both defendants guilty and sentenced V. But to 1 year and 3 months of restriction of liberty and V. Bocharov to 2 years and 1 month of restriction of liberty. The court prohibited the Sevastopol residents from leaving their place of permanent stay from 22:00 to 06:00, from changing their place of residence or stay, place of work without the consent of a special body, as well as from leaving the territory of the Republic of Crimea. The verdict was not appealed and entered into force.
