Basov Vladislav Aleksandrovich

In St. Petersburg, around two o'clock in the morning on July 27, 2023, a local 23-year-old resident Vladislav Basov was detained. He was taken to the Temporary Detention Facility of the 10th Police Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nevsky District of St. Petersburg. According to law enforcement officials, on July 26, Basov used a black paint spray can to write on buildings and structures in the Nevsky district inscriptions "promoting ideas of racism and neo-Nazism, as well as the symbolism of the terrorist organization M.K.U." - a symbol similar to the emblem of the military units of the Wehrmacht (1939-1945) - "SS", on a brick fence, the inscription "M.K.U." and the symbol "Celtic cross", on the wall of a building, the inscription "M.K.U." and a symbol similar to a Nazi swastika, on a transformer booth, the inscriptions "M.K.U. Glory to Ukraine" and a heart image, on a stone fence, etc. (total 11 inscriptions). On July 28, 2023, Svetlana Petiy, a judge of the Nevsky District Court of St. Petersburg, sentenced Basov to 15 days of administrative arrest. Following his arrest, a criminal case was opened against Basov for participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. According to the investigation, Basov, adhering to right-wing extremist views and positions, feeling hatred towards non-Slavic people, on June 10, 2023, entered into correspondence in a messenger with a user who was a member of the "Brotherhood of Killers" community (hereinafter referred to as "B.U."), during which Basov expressed a desire to join the community, and was accepted into it on June 24, 2023. Basov was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On August 29, 2024, the 1st Western District Military Court found Vladislav Basov guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part of the term in a strict regime colony.
