Case Description
In Irkutsk at the end of November 2022, 51-year-old participant of the Afghan and Chechen wars, left-wing activist and blogger Vladimir Timofeev was accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army and justifying terrorism. According to the investigation, Vladimir posted publications in his Telegram channel "Baikal Partisan" about a fire at an oil depot in the Belgorod region, which occurred as a result of an airstrike from two helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On November 30, 2022, the Kuybyshevsky District Court of Irkutsk chose house arrest as a preventive measure. On April 25, 2023, the 1st Eastern Military District Court found Vladimir Timofeev guilty and sentenced him to three years in a general regime colony. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom. On September 11, 2023, the Appellate Military Court left the verdict unchanged.
