Case Description
On July 13, 2023, in Crimea, 57-year-old Vladimir Tikhonov was detained. He was accused of illegal handling of explosives or explosive devices. The details of the charges are unknown. July 14, 2023, the Kievsky District Court of Simferopol chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the defendant in the case. Later, the charges against the man were reclassified: he was accused of treason. According to the FSB, Tykhonov, being opposed to the "special military operation, left Crimea for Ukraine in 2022, where he was recruited by employees of the Ukrainian security service. According to the 'curators' assignment, he allegedly collected information about the locations of warehouses of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the National Guard in Dzhankoy and Krasnoperekopsky district. Screen shots of the geolocations of these objects he sent to representatives of the SBU via messenger. The FSB also claimed that he had passed on information about military cargo passing through the territory of Crimea. On May 29, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea found Vladimir Tikhonov guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in a strict regime penal colony and a fine of 300 thousand. rubles and restriction of freedom for 1 year 10 months. On October 7, 2025, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
