Case Description
In early May 2022, a criminal case was opened in Moscow for 'fakes' about the Russian army, committed by a group of persons, on grounds of political hatred, and incitement of hatred or enmity with the use of violence or threat of its use against Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Shilov. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a certain video published on social networks, in which Shilov stated that he had given orders not to take Russian soldiers prisoner, but to kill them on the spot. In the fall of 2022, Vladimir Shilov was put on the wanted list. On October 24, 2024, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow found Vladimir Shilov guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 9 years in a general regime colony. The court also imposed a fine of 550 thousand. rubles and a ban on administering websites for 4 years. On May 8, 2025, the Moscow City Court issued a ruling to terminate the appellate proceedings.
