Case Description
On February 15, 2023, in Engels, Saratov Region, security forces detained Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Martynyenko. A search was conducted in his house and equipment was seized. The next day he was sent to a pre-trial detention center. Martynenko was accused of "repeated discrediting of the army." According to the investigation, from February to December 2022, the man posted publications on one of the social networks aimed at discrediting the RF Armed Forces. It is not specified which publications are being referred to. Earlier, Martynenko was fined in a case of an administrative offence under the article on discrediting the Russian army due to a post on Odnoklassniki with the words "On the presence of neo-Nazism in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation." On May 23, 2023, Judge Olga Iginina of the Engelsky District Court of the Saratov Region found Vladimir Martynenko guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 100 thousand. rubles, thereby releasing him from payment, crediting the time spent in the SIZO. Martynenko was released from custody in the courtroom. The verdict was not appealed. and entered into force.
