Case Description
In the city of Schuchye, Kurgan region, at the beginning of April 2023, a criminal case was opened on 'fakes' about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred against local resident Vladimir Kuprin. According to the investigation, in 2022, Kuprin "repeatedly posted information on his social media page discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation." The details of the charges are unknown. Before the election of a preventive measure, Kuprina was placed in a temporary detention center. On April 5, 2023, the Shchuchansky District Court of the Kurgan Region refused the investigation's request to detain Kuprin. It is unknown what measure of restraint was chosen for him. On April 9, 2024, Judge Konstantin Chernukhin of the Shchuchansk District Court of the Kurgan Region found Vladimir Kuprin guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in a penal colony. The court also banned the man from administering websites for 3 years. 25 June 2024, Judge Elena Kuznetsova of the Kurgan Regional Court left the sentence unchanged.
