Case Description
On August 22, 2024, in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, 38-year-old local resident Vladimir Garmash was detained. He was accused of publicly "discrediting" the army, resulting in damage to property. According to the investigation, in June 2024, the man destroyed 13 campaign posters calling for enlistment in the military service under contract in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the posters depicted the symbolism of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the form of a military heraldic sign and emblem, as well as the state flag of the Russian Federation and the St. George ribbon. According to reports, the man's actions caused property damage to the administration of Zheleznogorsk amounting to approximately 30 thousand. rubles. The Zheleznogorsk City Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory sent a defendant in the case to a pre-trial detention center. On December 9, 2024, Judge Alexei Potylitsyn of the Zheleznogorsk City Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory found Vladimir Garmash guilty and sentenced him to three years in a general regime colony. February 18, 2025, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court left the sentence unchanged.
