Case Description
In Moscow on March 16, 2024, on the second day of voting in the 2024 Putin elections, Chertanovo District Court placed pensioner Vladimir Denisov under house arrest on charges of obstructing the exercise of electoral rights or the work of election commissions, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or an organized group." According to law enforcement, Denisov poured brilliant green on a stationary ballot box. The pensioner acted on the instructions of scammers and "objectively believed that he was participating in some kind of operation." Moreover, not a single ballot was damaged. 23 April 2024, Chertanovo District Court of Moscow found Vladimir Denisov guilty and sentenced him to one and a half years of imprisonment with a suspended sentence. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
