Case Description
In Yalta in annexed Crimea, a 34-year-old local resident, native of Kharkiv region of Ukraine Vitaly Chyorny, was detained no later than March 2024. He was accused of state treason, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, and preparing for the illegal manufacture and circulation of explosive devices. According to the Russian investigation, Chyorny, being opposed to the conduct of the special military operation, at the end of 2022 made contact with representatives of the Ukrainian security service, to whom he reported his readiness to provide assistance, including in carrying out sabotage and terrorist acts. In March 2024, he received an assignment from his handlers, according to which he was supposed to find explosive devices and individual components for damage, and then place them in a cache. Chorny studied the basics of handling explosive devices, acquired a homemade explosive device, a receiver and transmitter, as well as an explosive substance based on hexogen, which he placed in a designated location, passed the coordinates to a Ukrainian security service employee, after which he was detained. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation.
