Case Description
A criminal case was opened against the spouses - fencers from the Olympic team Sergey Bida and his wife Violetta Bida - for unauthorized abandonment of service. Bida from Dynamo was formally an employee of the National Guard, and his wife from CSKA was a military servicemember of the Ministry of Defense. The spouses came under persecution after Sergey Bida was allowed to compete in the United States and began winning prizes there. The spouses were placed on international wanted lists: Sergey Bida was wanted no later than September, and his wife no later than October 2023.
