Case Description
In the Moscow region in October 2022, a search was conducted at the home of 49-year-old Ukrainian citizen Viktor Yakushin. He was accused of illegal trafficking of weapons by an organized group of people. According to Russian law enforcement, Yakushin transported two Igla MANPADS systems from Kyiv by car via Estonia with the aim of carrying out a terrorist attack in Russia. During the searches, means of communication were allegedly seized from him, confirming his criminal actions and contacts with SBU employees." "In August 2023, the charges against Yakushin were toughened — he was charged with preparing for a terrorist act and smuggling weapons as part of an organized group, as well as participating in a terrorist community. On October 10, 2022, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow chose Yakushin's measure of restraint in the form of detention. On August 23, 2023, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Viktor Yakushin guilty, the sentence is unknown. On December 7, 2023, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence.
