Case Description
In Novosibirsk, no later than June 2024, a criminal case was opened against 30-year-old military serviceman, Warrant Officer Viktor Pokusin. He was accused of confidential cooperation with a foreign state. The details of the charges are unknown. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On August 13, 2024, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Viktor Pokusin guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in a general regime penal colony, as well as stripped him of his rank of 'reserve warrant officer'. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. Earlier, Pokusin was twice sentenced by the Novosibirsk Garrison Military Court: in April 2023, he was sentenced to 1 year of probation for leaving the unit for 4 days, and in September of the same year - to 6 years in a colony on charges of desertion during mobilization.
