Case Description
In Sudak, in the annexed Crimea, in April 2022, pensioner Valeria Goldenberg was detained. She was accused of desecrating burial sites. According to the investigation, the pensioner poured blood and feces on the grave of Valentin Isaychev, a mortarman of the 810th Marine Brigade of the RF who died on the landing ship 'Orsk' in Berdyansk." Golberg herself said that she did this "out of a sense of revenge and compassion for the Ukrainian people." On April 11, 2022, Goldenberg was taken into custody. On June 7, 2022, the Sudak City Court of the Republic of Crimea found Valeria Goldenberg guilty and sentenced her to two years in a penal colony. On August 23, 2022, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea left the verdict in force.
