Case Description
Valery Shevchuk, a 28-year-old resident of the village of Partizany, was detained in the Republic of Crimea no later than November 11, 2024. He was accused of public calls for extremist activities. Earlier, Shevchuk was sentenced to administrative arrest and fined for discrediting the army and distributing prohibited symbols. According to the Russian investigation, Shevchuk published comments under video recordings on YouTube, which allegedly contained calls for violent actions against Russians. On February 25, 2025, the Kirovsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea found Valeriy Shevchuk guilty and sentenced him to 5 years and 10 days of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony. On July 17, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea changed the verdict, details are unknown.
