Case Description
In Moscow in September 2010, 59-year-old retired FSB colonel Valery Mikhailov was detained on charges of treason. According to the investigation, while serving in the FSB, Mikhailov sold secret documents to CIA agents for six years and received more than $2 million for it. Lefortovo Court of Moscow sent Mikhailov to a remand prison. June 6, 2012, the Moscow Regional Military Court found Valeriy Mikhailov guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
