Case Description
In the Republic of Udmurtia, no later than June 2024, a criminal case was opened against 49-year-old Valery Kurochkin, a resident of the Igrinsky District with a prior criminal record. He was accused of repeatedly propagating or publicly displaying Nazi symbols. According to the investigation, in July 2024, Kurochkin, while in the IK-2 Correctional Facility of the Udmurt Republic, publicly demonstrated a swastika tattoo on his neck to other inmates. He had previously been held administratively liable for a similar offense. There is no information about the measure of restraint. 16 May 2025, the Glazov District Court found the man guilty and, by aggregate sentences, sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime penal colony. On October 16, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Udmurt Republic changed the sentence, details are unknown.
