Case Description
On March 3, 2024, in the city of Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, 39-year-old Valentin Kholopstsev, a resident of Yalta, was detained. On June 20, 2024, a criminal case of treason was opened against him. According to the investigation, being opposed to the "SVO" on the territory of Ukraine and being in close proximity to the international airport in Sochi, in January 2024, Kholopchev allegedly observed the departure of a radar surveillance and guidance aviation complex. He passed information about the location and time of the launch of the complex for its fire damage to the special services of Ukraine. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On December 2, 2024, the Krasnodar Regional Court found Kholopstsev guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in a strict regime penal colony with a 1-year restriction of freedom. On February 4, 2025, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
