Case Description
In Kineshma, Ivanovo Oblast, at the end of November 2023, a criminal case was opened against the screenwriter of the TV series "Kupchino" Vadim Kalashov for repeated "discrediting" of the army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was three posts published on September 5, 11, and 30, 2022, on the VKontakte page "Vadim Kalashov, with photographs of destroyed houses and children's toys, containing the inscription: "Stop the war! "Every day of the Russian special operation takes the lives of 3 Ukrainian children, and with an image of children's drawings with the inscription 'The price of the Russian world in Mariupol.'" Stop the war! It is unknown whether a preventive measure has been chosen. Previously, in the summer of 2022, Kalashova was repeatedly fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on 'discrediting the army.' On June 21, 2024, the court proceedings were suspended due to the fact that the defendant had gone into hiding, but the next day the court resumed consideration of the case. On July 5, 2024, the Kineshma City Court of the Ivanovo Region found Vadim Kalashov guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 250 thousand. rubles with a ban on placing information on the Internet for 2.5 years. In connection with Kalashov's detention pending sentencing, the court reduced the fine to 230 thousand. rubles.
