Case Description
In Vladivostok at the end of February 2022, from the vessel MSC RICARDA, which was anchored there under the Portuguese flag, a 24-year-old Ukrainian sailor, a native of Kherson Vadim Ignashov, was abducted. He was accused of calling for extremism. According to Russian law enforcement officials, Ignashov published calls for the physical destruction of Russian military personnel, as well as photo and video materials of killed Russian soldiers and destroyed equipment, urged his fellow countrymen to record the movements of Russian convoys in the Kherson region and transmit this information to the Armed Forces of Ukraine." 4. On March 5, 2022, the Ukrainian was placed in custody. According to unconfirmed reports, no later than October 2022, an unknown court found Vadim Ignatov guilty and sentenced him to one year and four months in a penal colony-settlement. There is no information about appealing the verdict. It is assumed that in November 2022, Ignashov was released and was able to leave Russia.
