Garunov Umar Mansurovich

In July 2025, a criminal case was opened against local resident Umar Garunov in Izberbash, Republic of Dagestan. He was accused of participating in the activities of an international religious association recognized as extremist and banned on the territory of Russia. According to the investigation, approximately from 2008 to April 2017, Garunov, knowing about the ban on the activities of the international religious association "Nurjular", participated in its meetings in Izberbash. During the investigation, Garunov was placed under a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly. On November 10, 2025, the Izberbash City Court of the Republic of Dagestan terminated the criminal prosecution against Umar Garunov. The court found that Garunov committed the crime under Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for the first time, voluntarily ceased his participation in the organization's activities in April 2017 and turned himself in, and his actions did not contain any other corpus delicti. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
