Case Description
1. In Ulan-Ude, no later than October 2023 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was opened for vandalism motivated by political hatred against 28-year-old local resident Tsirempil Tushinov. According to law enforcement, Tushinov, while intoxicated, "on the grounds of political hatred, conditioned by condemnation of the Russian Federation's special military operation," attempted to tear down a banner with the letter V installed on the pedestal of the Lenin monument on Sovetov Square. During the investigation, Tushinov was placed under a written undertaking not to leave. On February 15, 2024, the magistrate of the Judicial District No. 3 of the Sovetsky District of Ulan-Ude, Republic of Buryatia, found Tsirempil Tushinov guilty and sentenced him to one year of restriction of liberty - the court prohibited the man from changing his place of residence and leaving the city of Ulan-Ude without the consent of a specialized state body overseeing the serving of sentences in the form of restriction of liberty. Tushinov is also required to report once a month to the specialized state body overseeing the serving of sentences in the form of restriction of liberty.
