Case Description
On April 18, 2024, in Moscow, security forces came to the apartment of Anna Kravchenko and Timofey Mokhnenko (an employee of an oncology center) for a "search." Everything in the house was turned upside down, Ukrainian flags and 'other symbols' were found. Law enforcement officers put the spouses face down on the floor, put handcuffs on them, forced them to 'say different things' on video, and beat the man with a stun gun. Then the couple was taken to the Investigative Committee on Pyatnitskaya for questioning, after which they were taken to the OMON of Russia for the Zamoskvoretsky district of Moscow, where protocols were drawn up against them for disobeying the police. The spouses allegedly resisted during the conduct of operational-search activities. The beaten man had to call an ambulance to the police station. On April 19, 2024, Judge Varankina of the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow sentenced both to 15 days of administrative arrest. Anna Kravchenko was released after the first administrative arrest, while Timofey was again arrested for 15 days on May 3 under the article on petty hooliganism. On May 18, Mohnenko was supposed to be released from the detention center, but at night he was charged under articles on "incitement to hatred" and "justification or calls for terrorism." Law enforcement officers are charging him with certain publications in a Telegram channel. A criminal case was initiated under the articles on "incitement of hatred or enmity" and "justification of terrorism. The reason for the persecution was publications in a Telegram channel, the authorship of which Mohnenko denies. The man claims that in February 2024, his phone was hacked by scammers and some extraneous applications were installed on it. He also had funds stolen from his bank card. 20 May 2024, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow chose a measure of restraint for Mohnenko in the form of detention. On July 17, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Timofey Mokhchenko guilty and sentenced him to 1.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
